Phaseolus vulgaris

If the stories are true, Black Turtle beans are nearly as old as the domestication date of all beans, roughly 8000 years ago. These beans grow prolifically on tall bush plants, that may benefit from some staking or trellising. Plants will grow happily without trellising, but be sure to give them a bit of space.

We love how these matte black beans cook up into an inky purple color, excellent in soups, stews, and on their own!
