Briza maxima

This ornamental grass gets its namesake from the resemblance it shares with the friendly end of a rattlesnake. Also known as quaking grass, the dangling seed bracts shake about in a lovely way when brushed or blown slightly. We love this variety as an annual ornamental in our garden, although it can also be grown as a perennial. The decorated stems serve as a unqiue addition to both fresh and dried flower bouquets!

Seeds can be direct sown or transplanted in the spring. No overwintering is required to bring this variety to maturity. Note that seeds will take a couple of weeks to germinate, so be patient once sown.

Packet size: 50 seeds

DTM: 80-90 days from transplant
